Lodge of Charity Installation 953
   
W.Bro George Walsh enjoyed his year as Worshipful Master of The Mark Lodge of Charity No 935, four years ago so much that he decided to do it all over again on Monday 20th February at The Masonic Hall, Bryn  Road. Ashton, Wigan, a building that is very well known in the local area due to its sloping floor due to mining subsidence.

The Installation Meeting was well attended by brethren of the lodge, together with a gathering of visitors, amongst them being V.W.Bro. Rod Bennison., PGJO, attending as The Representative of The Right Worshipful Master, and W.Bro Kenneth Alker., PGJD, the Special Representative for the Wigan and District Group of Lodges. The Installation Ceremony was conducted in a sincere and efficient manner by W.Bro D. J Heaton, assisted in part by W.Bro R. Heyes., P.Prov.GJO, and although it was a shortened version it was very well presented.

The ceremony was further embellished with an extremely good presentation of the Keystone Collarette, by WBro K. Laites., P.Prov.GJO, and an impeccable delivery of the Working Tools by Bro M.J Pennington, who had only recently been Advanced into the Lodge, and shows great promise.

Following his Installation, the Worshipful Master presented cheque's totaling £350.00 for various charities to V.W.Bro. Rod Bennison, who thanked the Worshipful Master, and brethren of the lodge for their generosity, remarking that he was always amazed by the amount that mark masons generate towards charitable causes. After repairing for pre meal drinks, where extremely convivial conversation flowed almost as fast as the whisky and gin, the brethren relaxed over a very enjoyable four course meal.
